Blisters, bubbles and laughter – all for charity

Having had to initially cancel our charity event back in July due to bad weather, on Friday 24th September we were delighted to be able to complete our plans. Several of us undertook a challenging 30-mile bike ride, whilst others took a slightly more sedate journey with a relaxing walk taking in some of the cultural sights of Witney. With the finish line for all at a local pub we were able to relax, unwind and enjoy some much-needed refreshments together to celebrate our achievements.

The event was held in order to raise money for a unique charity called SpecialEffect. They look to put fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities by helping them to play video games. The team do this by using technology ranging from modified joypads to eye-control, finding ways for everybody to join in. However, it is not just about having fun, they aim to level the playing field by bringing families and friends together whilst also having a profoundly positive impact on therapy, confidence and rehabilitation.

When we were first introduced to SpecialEffect we knew we wanted to become involved. The team came up with a slightly different fundraising event which was the perfect way to involve all staff, partners and friends.

We would like to say a big thank you to everybody that attended the event and to everybody that has kindly given a donation.
