Over the last 20 years, NGI Finance has built a strong and respected presence within the UK business finance market. From the early beginnings in 2006 to our position today, the journey has been shaped by innovation, resilience and a constant focus on supporting our clients.
Our story began in 2006, when we established ourselves to offer a more flexible and personal approach to commercial property finance. In the first year, thanks to some welcome introductions we helped clients secure vital funding which in turn laid the foundations for long-term relationships that continue today.
As the business grew, NGI Finance expanded beyond the commercial property market, introducing a more rounded finance provision including loans, asset finance and invoice finance to meet the changing needs of SMEs. This allowed clients to fund equipment, vehicles and working capital in smarter, more efficient ways.
One of the most defining moments came during the 2008 financial crisis, when access to funding became more difficult for many businesses. We supported clients through this period, helping them navigate uncertainty whilst also maintain stability.
In the years that followed, we grew our lender panel, giving clients access to a wider range of funding options and more competitive terms. Digital tools were introduced to streamline applications and improve turnaround times, making finance easier to access.
Here are 20 of our businesses key milestones:
- Founded in 2006 by Maria Morris to provide a local personal service to business owners requiring debt solutions. Focusing initially on Commercial Property
- 2010 – Chris Morris joined the business after a career with Lloyds Banking Group, widening the scope of offerings to include Asset Finance.
- 2012 was the evolution to a whole of market provision, including loan funding – being at the forefront of Crowdfunding. This Expansion into SME lending – led to the company taking on their first employee with a long-term view to build product offerings, widen the lender panel and establish a finance team.

- Reaching 100 funded clients
- 2014 – took the decision to gain FCA approval – leading to an addition to the asset finance offering – assisting with Director vehicle purchases.
- Launch of invoice finance services
- 2015 continued to build a dedicated broker support team.
- 2016 saw a further expansion with the launch of NGI Residential Mortgages. Having seen the need to assist with personal car purchases this was the next step into offering a full financial package to our SME’s.
- Expanding team from 3 in 2012 to 7 in 2019
- 2018 – Being FCA approved and members of the NACFB – demonstrates our dedication to providing a fully compliant and fair service. The introduction of GDPR in 2018 led to a major compliance overhaul for lenders and their introducers – we are proud to be NACFB assured, meeting all compliance standards.
- 2019 Purchasing own commercial property
- 2020 Navigating the COVID-19 business disruption – adapting to the fast-changing Government Support schemes and reaching out to all our valued customers
- 2021 Expanding regional client coverage (Reading & Basingstoke Franchise’s)
- 2022 Investing in digital systems and processes with a market leading CRM system.
